Keith Urban revealed his struggles with addiction Monday (November 29th) during a visit toThe Oprah Winfrey Show, noting how it was his wife, Nicole Kidman, who helped him get over his his addiction to drugs -- predominately alcohol and cocaine.

As for Kidman, Urban said there was a point when "she should've just walked . . . I'm just so glad she didn't." He added, "She made a decision to turn around and initiate, ultimately, this intervention. And it was done in such a way that the love in that room at that moment was just right, and I was like, 'Put the cuffs on, let's go.'" Urban said that along with Kidman several of his close friends helped stage the intervention.

  • Urban also talked about how much he loves his wife, admiting that he was "a little bit intimidated" by the actress when they first met in a greenroom. But once they started talking "it just clicked."
  • For her part, Kidman told Winfrey, "Marriage is about everyday trying to make it better."
  • Urban is out with his sixth studio album, Get Closer, while Kidman's new movie, Rabbit Hole, opens in limited theaters December 17th.

  • Keith's two previous albums, Defying Gravity and Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing, debuted atop the Billboard country and pop album charts.
  • All of Keith's albums have been certified platinum.
  • Last year's Defying Gravity has sold more than a million copies and charted two Number One hits with "Sweet Thing" and "Only You Can Love Me This Way," bringing his total of chart-toppers to 11.

Miranda Lambert says that dating a fellow country music artist has its ups and downs. The singer, who's engaged to Blake Shelton, tells, "The good outweighs the bad. The bad is being apart, and also we have way different music tastes, Blake and I. We don't listen to the same kind of music, and we don't record the same kind of music. But that's also kind of good in a way, because we each do our own thing and neither one of us tries to change the other."

As for the best part, she says, "When the red carpet and awards show were over, we went home and we're normal. I made cookies and Blake burned a brush pile."

  • In other news, Lambert says she plans to begin work on her next album in 2011. The set could be released by the end of next year or the beginning of 2012.
Taylor Swift has dabbled with acting in the past, and now there are rumors she could be up for parts in New Year's Eve and the big screen version of Rock of Ages. But when we asked the singer about any upcoming film roles, she wouldn't dish on what's to come. Instead, she said her focus remains on one thing: music: "There's nothing I'm thinking about as far as acting right now. I've gotten to do some really cool things like Valentine's Day and hosting SNL. And those have been unforgettable experiences. But I know what I love more than anything in the world and that's making music. And I've been obsessing over and laboring over for the last two years. So putting that out and hearing what people think of it and hoping for the best is really where my mind is right now.
Willie Nelson isn't letting his recent marijuana possession arrest get in his way. Just two days after posting a $2,500 bond the 77-year old singer launched "Willie Nelson's Teapot Party" Facebook page to create awareness for his cause: the legalization of marijuana. The online group already has more than 7,000 members and counting.

Nelson tells, "Tax it, regulate it and legalize it. And stop the border wars over drugs. Why should the drug lords make all the money? Thousands of lives will be saved." Nelson add, "There's the Tea Party. How about the Teapot Party? Our motto: We lean a little to the left."

  • Nelson has had previous run-ins with the law. He was arrested in 2005 and 2006 for drug possession. In the past, he's told, "I don't drink anymore. That was always my biggest problem. I never did cocaine or any of those things. Alcohol was always my enemy, for as far back as I can remember. When I quit drinking and quit smoking cigarettes, a lot of my problems went away."
  • Nelson was arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint the morning of November 26th. A criminal defense attorney tells that Nelson could spend up to two years in jail if convicted.
  • Nelson will be on tour from December through early 2011.

Dolly Parton opened up on CNN's Larry King Live recently about the younger generation of stars making headlines today, including Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. Parton has known Cyrus since she was a baby, and when asked about the singer's new adult or as some say "raunchy" image, she said, "I don't want to say a whole lot about that. Hopefully she didn't get a lot of that from me, because certainly I never encouraged her to do that . . . [I just think she is] in a crosswind, trying to get over the 'Hannah Montana' little girl [image] and trying to become a young woman. I know she is going to be fine -- or I certainly hope so. I know she is very gifted."

When it comes to Swift, Parton said she thinks the young star is a smart, beautiful girl, adding, "Her songs are great, she keeps herself anchored and knows who she is. I just admire her and I think she's incredible and a great role model for young people right now."

  • When asked if Swift is getting ahead of herself, Parton said, "I don't know if there is such a thing as too much too soon. If it's your time, it's your time. I hope her 15 minutes of fame last for 40 years, and it very well might!"
Lady Antebellum continues to climb up the country charts with "Hello World," the fourth single off ofNeed You Now. We caught up with Lady A's Dave Haywood, who told us how Hillary Scott introduced the track to the rest of the group near the end of the recording process: "We were kind of at the end and were like, 'Man we just need one more song.' We wanted something that had a positive message and a really meaningful song. And Hillary just had this song on her iPod. And she was like, 'Well, I have this song -- a friend of mine at a record label gave it to me a couple of years ago when I was going through a hard time. And I just listen to it whenever I'm down or whenever I'm going through a rough patch. And so she played it for us and Charles and I were completely floored. I mean I listened to it probably 30 times after that, and it was just a little demo with a piano and the vocals of this guy that wrote it."

  • According to, "Hello World" was written by songwriter David Lee with the help of Tom Douglas and Tony Lane. Lee apparently first wrote the song when he was 27 and then put it aside for several years, only to pick it up again more than a decade later. It was originally titled "Hello Heart," but once Lee teamed up with Douglas and Lane, they changed it to "Hello World" and tweaked the first verse.
Carrie Underwood was forced to cancel her concert last night (Monday, November 29th) in Auburn Hills, Michigan due to illness. According to the Associated Press, she'll make it up on December 22nd. All other show dates remain as scheduled.

Secretary of StateHillary Clinton said that WikiLeaks acted illegally in posting the material, and that the administration was taking, quote, "aggressive steps to hold responsible those who stole this information." Both the State Department and the Pentagon -- which was hit by recent WikiLeaks disclosures of huge troves of classified documents related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- have updated their security protections to prevent another breach.

OBAMA CALLS FOR FEDERAL PAY FREEZE: President Obama yesterday (November 29th) proposed a two-year freeze of the salaries of some two million federal workers, as he tried to seize the initiative on deficit-cutting from the Republicans. The White House said the plan is meant to save more than $5 billion over the first two years, however that will make just a tiny dent in the deficit. The pay freeze wouldn't apply to the military, members of Congress or their staffs, defense contractors, postal workers or federal court judges and workers. Congress must approve the proposal.

HIGH SCHOOL GUNMAN SHOOTS HIMSELF AFTER HOLDING STUDENTS HOSTAGE: A 15-year-old student shot himself yesterday evening (November 29th) as police stormed the Wisconsin high school room where he'd held 22 fellow students and a teacher hostage for hours. The gunman, whose name wasn't released, was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition was unknown early Tuesday. The hostages were unharmed. Police said they didn't know what motivated the teen to take hostages at Marinette High School, but one of the hostages, Zach Campbell, said the gunman had seemed depressed. The standoff began near the end of the school day, when, according to Campbell, the gunman shot the projector as the class was watching a movie, then fired a second round. Campbell said the gunman chatted with his fellow students, who tried to keep him talking, but he refused to communicate with officials during the standoff. Police moved in when they heard three shots.

Ahmadinejad also admitted for the first time that the mysterious Stuxnet computer worm had affected centrifuges in Iran's uranium enrichment program, but vowed that the country's nuclear program wouldn't be stopped by what was described as a campaign to sabotage it. The bomb attacks occurred when men on motorcycles attached magnetized bombs to the nuclear scientists' cars as they drove to work in separate parts of the capital and they detonated seconds later. At least two other Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in recent years, one of them in a similar attack.

WIKILEAKS' NEXT TARGET WILL BE A U.S. BANK: As the fallout is still being felt from WikiLeaks' release Sunday (November 28th) of hundreds of thousands of U.S. diplomatic cables, Forbes reported Monday that the website's next target will be a major U.S. bank. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in an interview with Forbes that the website will release tens of thousands of documents early next year that could, quote, "take down a bank or two." Assange didn't reveal which bank would be involved, although he did mention Goldman Sachs by name in the interview. Discussing the bank leak, he said it would, quote, "give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level in a way that will stimulate investigations and reforms, I presume."

PRICE OF 'THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS' IS UP: The cost of buying every item mentioned in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is up this year, to nearly $100,000, according to the annual index from PNC Wealth Management. The price of all 364 items repeated in all the song's verses, from 12 drummers drumming to a partridge in a pear tree, would cost $96,824, an increase of 10.8 percent over last year. The most expensive item on the list was $6,294 to hire nine ladies dancing, a 15 percent increase from last year, while the cheapest was $12 for a partridge, a 20 percent increase.

That's significantly lower than even the Obama administration's estimate from September of less than $50 billion, which was criticized as being too optimistic. The CBO said that with bailed-out firms returning to financial health, the government will spend less than previously thought on assistance to AIG and automakers like General Motors. The TARP cost was also lowered by additional stock repurchases by Wall Street firms and lower-than-expected participation in mortgage programs.

Bush stuck to his policy of refusing to criticizePresident Obama, but did praise his successor for his policies on Afghanistan and education.

HUNDREDS OF UNKNOWN PICASSOS SURFACE: A 71-year-old man in France has been found to have 271 unknown works by Pablo Picasso that experts believe are worth more than $80 million. Retired electrician Pierre Le Guennec says the drawings and paintings from the first third of the 20th century were gifts to him from Picasso. However, the legendary artist's heirs believe the artworks must have been stolen and have charged that Le Guennec was dealing in stolen goods. An attorney for the family told AFP, "This electrician, who claims to have been a long-time friend, has never been heard of despite the fact we now know every detail about Picasso's life." Le Guennec says he worked installing alarm systems at several of Picasso's residences during the three years up until the artist's death in 1973, and that he was given all of the works, either by Picasso's late wife or by the artist himself.

Marc Simons -- who started cleaning houses for extra cash after parties a year ago -- has teamed up with his friend Alex Vere-Nicoll to start Hangover Helpers. The man's temporary blindness only seems to occur after he climaxes during intercourse. The man was eventually given medication to widen his blood vessels. (

WAS CYBER MONDAY A MYTH? Industry sources are now saying that "Cyber Monday" is just a marketing gimmick. Andrew Lipsman, director of industry analysis at comScore, a company that monitors internet traffic, said that Cyber Monday has never been the biggest day of the year for online retail sales. Typically, a Monday in December takes that title, and Lipsman predicted the biggest online retail day of 2010 will be on December 13. In 2009, Cyber Monday was the second-biggest e-commerce day of the year, but Lipsman said that was only influenced by the recession. Usually, Cyber Monday is the seventh to ninth biggest day for e-commerce. (CNN)

GIRLS ARE FIGHTING MORE: The number of teenage girls who are physically aggressive and lash out at school and at home has reported risen at an "alarming" rate. A study out of Britain found that more and more girls are binge drinking and are emulating male behavior. The number of women found guilty of murder, vicious assault or other attacks has risen by 81 percent since 1998. Leading anger management psychotherapist Mike Fisher said, 'Girls are generally better at dealing with their feelings, whereas boys keep it inside. However, when girls drink they are anaesthetizing their feelings. Suddenly they are not able to cope with their emotions appropriately, but that anger has to go somewhere. Unlike their mothers, who perhaps did not drink as much, they become violent.' (Daily Mail)

    • Guys: would a girl who got into fights be a turn on or turn off?
    • Are you more likely to get mad at a girl or guy when you are drinking?

    • Park far from the entrance or if taking the bus or train to your destination, get off a stop or two early to add some extra walking.
    • When shopping, carry purchases instead of using a shopping cart because this increases heart pumping and strengthens muscles.
    • Cleaning the house by vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, gardening and even taking multiple trips upstairs to put away laundry or holiday decorations all count as physical activity.

SMART MEN ARE MORE LIKELY TO CHEAT: Intelligence coincides with traits like social desirability and physical attractiveness, providing intelligent people with the opportunity for sexual encounters beyond the scope of their relationships. This theory is reinforced by answers given to the General Social Survey, which found that men and women with higher IQs were more likely to have had affairs.

Your strong opinions: Coming on too strongly can clash with the light, general conversation that first meetings encourage. Yes, you want to be your usual brainy self, but women will often be turned off if your conversation is too overwhelming or heavy. Apart from religion and politics, it's in your best interest to leave sex and typically male jokes off the table.

Your flirting: Yes to being charming, but no to flirting. Often the line blurs a tad, so ensure you keep your charm in check. If you're a little too friendly with her friends, they'll be hearing the word "player" sounding off in their heads. Be fun and take an interest in their lives, but don't stare at them like you're body-searching them with your eyes, make any physical contact or single out one of her friends (the hottest, naturally) to talk to.

Your similarities to her exes: Do you have the same charm that her ex-boyfriend Billy did? Or do you seem to be boyishly shy, like Ted? Her friends know all about the dating disasters your girlfriend has been involved in, so they're going to be noticing how you fare when compared to her exes. There's not much you can do to prevent this. But all you can do is be yourself, and if they seem to compare you to someone's negative traits, prove them wrong.

Your friends: "Birds of a feather flock together" rings true when it comes to how women rate you. When scoping you out, you can be sure your girlfriend's friends are also going to be taking a look at the quality of the company you keep. They will be checking to see that your friends are ambitious, kind, self-sufficient and all-around good guys. Ensure you leave the drunks, crass men, heavy partygoers and bums at home for this evening, okay? You really don't want them to reflect negatively on you.

Your appearance: First impressions are made within five seconds of meeting someone, and one of the first things that is scanned is how you're dressed. But it goes deeper than this. Women will focus on your clothing and looks, yes, but that's not all. They want to see that you look after yourself, are healthy and clean. They pay attention to detail, so ensure your fingernails are clean and your nose hairs trimmed.

Your finances: When it comes to glimpses into your finances, be careful to avoid two extremes that can be equally damaging: bragging about money or revealing that you don't have any. Regarding the former, avoid telling everyone about your latest work project that is set to make you millions or the flashy new car you bought (and showing them pictures of it on your phone). This will just make you appear arrogant and shallow. On the other extreme, bumming your girlfriend for drinks or laughing about how you don't have a job or any money to your name will make her friends think that you're just riding on your girlfriend's coattails.

Your BS: Although you're focused on making the best possible impression on her friends so that they take to you like a hyperactive kid reaching for a chocolate bar, don't try too hard because her friends will see right through it. It's much better to cut out all the BS and get real. Any exaggerated stories to make you look good or overused charm will come across tacky. Plus, they'll be wondering what you're trying to steal their attention away from with the facade. In other words, what are you hiding about your real personality? It's much better to keep it genuine from the first moment instead of trying to win them over with theatrics. The latter might have worked on your girlfriend but these objective friends aren't seeing you through love-tinted glasses.

Lots of athletes thank and praise God when they do well, but you don't hear them criticizing the Almighty when they don't. Until now. After Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson dropped an easy pass in overtime that would have been the game-winning touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday (November 28th), he took to Twitter to rail against God. He wrote: "I praise you 24/7!!!!!! And this how you do me!!!!! You expect me to learn from this??? How???!!! I'll never forget this!! Ever!!! Thx tho..." • Nelson was traveling without his band from California to his ranch in Austin.
The first-ever CMA Country Christmas TV special is set to air tonight (Monday, November 29th) from 9:30 -11:00 p.m. ET on ABC. The star-studded event, which taped earlier this month at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena finds Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles as host and holiday performances by Sheryl Crow, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker and Sugarland.

Nettles told us why specials like this one are important: "I'm excited that there is a special, first of all. I mean, I remember when I was growing up watching the Christmas specials that would come on television, and it's such a fond memory and of being with your family and having something that feels like it only comes around once a year and that also gets you excited for the holiday, so I'm excited to be a part of it."

    • Among the highlights of the event are Paisley's acoustic version of "What Child is This," Pickler's rendition of "Santa Baby," a guitar-driven cover of "Run, Run, Rudolph" with Crow and Paisley and Rascal Flatts' dedication to the troops during their salute of "I'll Be Home for Christmas."
    • Other performances include Rimes singing "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" complete with dancing sailors, McBride's "O Holy Night" and the full cast finale of "Jingle Bell Rock."
Blake Shelton continues to climb the charts with "Who You Are When I'm Not Looking," the latest single off his 2010 EP, All About Tonight. The song, written by Earl Bud Lee and John Wiggins, was first recorded by artist Joe Nichols for his 2007 album Real Things.

Shelton has since made it his own and tells us why he likes the track so much: "It's basically a song from a guy's point of view. There's this girl that he's very interested in and he knows all the things about her that she wants people to know about her, which is you know how she looks and how she acts when she's around other people. But the song's point of view is he wants to know what she's like behind closed doors. He's that interested in her. He wants to be that guy in her life. She's not just another pretty face. It's a very romantic song. It's a very sexy song too."Shelton is now out with Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton.

Lady Antebellum recently wrapped up its 2010 Need You Now headlining tour and will be looking to write some music in 2011. The trio has a new holiday EP out called Merry Little Christmas, but hopes to begin working on songs next year.

Writing and recording new material seems to come pretty easy for the group. Lady A's Dave Haywoodrecalls how it all got started with Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley: "The way we actually kind of started we just kind of fell in. The very first day we started writing something just clicked where Charles started writing a line-up and then Hillary sang a line. And we kind of heard her sultry lower tone and voice. And we were like, "Man this just a great mashup of the two. I always loved singing harmony. I grew up singing with my family, singing in the car, singing in church and everywhere. We each have our own thing we bring to the group. I feel honored to be a part of it."

    • Lady A's self-titled debut came out in 2008.
    • It was this year's Need You Now album that really put the trio on the map.
