Justin Moore might hate Halloween, but he knows that even the best dad's suck it up for their little girls. Justin told us that even though he isn't too fond of Halloween, his little girl, Ella, is planning on going out dressed as a cat.

"I hope I'm hidden in my bus somewhere. I hate Halloween. No, I think I will be at home, honestly. Maybe I'll like it a little bit better this year since Ella's old enough to maybe trick or treat a little bit, but I've just never liked Halloween. I can't stand it. I know I'm odd, but it's like the one holiday that I just don't know why, but I never got into it. As a kid I never dressed up. I never wanted my face painted or nothing. I was a strange kid. I was a stranger kid than I am adult, if you can imagine that."

Montgomery Gentry is celebrating the release of it's latest album and told us about how they plan on celebrating Halloween.

Troy Gentry said, "Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to participate in. I've got the old standard -- Batman. I'll be Batman again this year. Everybody knows me as a big, big Batman fan, so I've got two parties to go to this year -- one of the them I'll definitely be Batman, and then I don't know. I'm trying to think of something else to do differently for the other party and thus far is some sort of scary, eery clown cause I know how many people hate clowns."

Eddie Montgomery said, " I have a buddy of mine that they've had a Halloween party ever since high school. I'm single and another buddy of mine's single so we're thinking about going as Dumb and Dumber (Troy laughs) so (Eddie laughs) that's what we figure we might do. We figured, 'Well, what the hell!' We'll try it and see. We can probably pull it off. I know I can, so they're gonna be like, 'Oh yeah, that works!' (laughs)."

  • Montgomery Gentry's new CD, called Rebels On The Run, is the duo's seventh studio album, but their first for Nashville indie label, Average Joe's Entertainment. The album also marks Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry's first time to work with Jason Aldean's producer, Michael Knox, in what Troy describes as a return to their early MG days.
  • Montgomery Gentry's current single, "Where I Come From," is a Top 35 hit on the country charts.
  • Montgomery Gentry's very first single was "Hillbilly Shoes" back in 1999. The song climbed to Number 15 on the Billboard country chart.
  • Their debut album, Tattoos & Scars, was also released in 1999 and sold more than a million copies.
Luke Bryan has taught his kids a thing or two about Halloween. Luke told us that when he takes his two young sons trick-or-treating -- he learns all about the type of people his neighbors are.

He said, "We're looking forward to trick-or-treating, and doing it in our neighborhood. You can find out a lot about your neighbors by what kind of candy they put out. So, well, like full bars of Snickers bars, that's what, and Reese's cups, (but) the old chocolate popcorn ball of stuff, that's no good either, like Dots - you get Dots one time of year and they pull your teeth."

  • Luke released his new Tailgates & Tanlines album in August.
  • It has already been certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies.
  • Luke, whose single "I Don't Want This Night to End" is quickly climbing the country charts, is in the midst of his first headlining tour for CMT. The trek, which also features Josh Thompson and Lee Brice, is scheduled to wrap November 19th in Monroe, Louisiana.
  • Luke is set to perform live on the CMA Awards on November 9th in Nashville, where he is nominated for CMA New Artist of the Year. The show airs live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

By late Sunday (October 30th), the number of outages had dipped to below three million and was continuing to fall, but officials in some states were warning that it could be days before all power was fully restored. Hundreds of schools had to close today (October 31st), and while a Halloween day off may seem like a dream come true for kids, some communities have also had to cancel planned trick-or-treating because of the snowfall. The storm also brought new stories of passengers who were forced to sit on airport tarmacs for hours because of weather-related delays. Passengers on at least three JetBlue planes and one American Airlines plane say they sat on the tarmac for seven hours or more at Bradley International Airport near Hartford, Connecticut, after being diverted on Saturday from New York-area airports. Campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon said in a written statement to AP that the allegations weren't true, stating, "Inside-the-Beltway media have begun to launch unsubstantiated personal attacks on Cain. Richard Muller, who works at the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, found that th Earth is 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s, matching what's been found by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Muller's findings came despite that fact that 25 percent of the $600,000 he used to do the research came from the Charles Koch Foundation, whose founder is a major funder of skeptic groups. The vast majority of climate scientists say global warming is real and man-made, caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

SEVEN BILLIONTH HUMAN ON EARTH TO BE BORN TODAY: The baby that will put the world's population over seven billion is expected to be born sometime today (October 31st), according to the United Nations Population Fund, and is most likely to be a boy born in India or China. But as the global population passes the milestone, experts are saying that the world is actually undergoing a major demographic shift towards slower population growth for the first time ever. While this trend has been seen for a while in industrialized Western and east Asian nations, it's now also appearing elsewhere, including Brazil, China and the Middle East. Among the reasons for this demographic shift over the past few decades, Texas A&M University sociology and demographics professor Dudley Poston cites: improved methods of birth control and greater opportunities for women; urbanization reducing the need for large families; and China's aggressive enforcement of its "one child" policy. For that reason, Poston says that while it took 12 years to reach today's seven billion population mark from when we passed six million in 1999, it'll take a longer 14 years to reach eight billion and then 18 years after that to reach nine billion.

The caller tells the dispatcher, "It's not an emergency per se, but there's something flying over our house. Um, It's coming towards me now, there's all this light blazing. I don't know what the hell it is!" The caller sounds sincere and even scared. He ended up calling back when he realized what the object was. EAT CANDY . . . QUICKER? Many dentists have given up trying to put their patients off going trick or treating. Instead they are taking the unusual move of advising eating as many sweets as quickly as possible. They are saying that gorging on sweet food is much better for your teeth than eating little bits for weeks. As Christopher Wanjek, author of Bad Medicine, writes: 'Slowly snacking on Halloween candy every few hours, day after day, keeps your teeth bathed in enamel-corroding acid, the byproduct of bacteria feeding on sugar and other carbohydrates in your mouth. He explains on that as far as oral hygiene goes, it is better to eat five chocolate bars at once than to eat one every few hours. (

  • The Halloween slut: Any Y-chromosome-bearing individual shouldn't need help spotting the Halloween slut, but on the off chance some of you don't get out much, just look for a short skirt and thigh-high stockings. Don't even contemplate the potential for something meaningful with this one; however, if your intention is just a one-nighter, she's the perfect gal for you. Odds are, she's looking for the same thing. The odds are so good, in fact, you might not even need to buy her breakfast come November 1.
  • The Disney character: To fit in this category, this princess must be the nonslutty variety -- a Disney character. This girl is sure to be sweet, but possibly a little shy. Don't count on her making the first move, even if you are doing your best imitation of a firefighter calendar cover. You'll do better if you attempt to sweep her off her feet. After all, she may be looking for her happily ever after and you could be her Prince Charming.
  • The zombie: Any woman in a gory costume is qualified to fit into this category. Don't overlook her. This girl has real potential. She's clearly confident and fun (she went ahead and uglied herself up for the party, all in the name of getting in to the spirit of things). Don't automatically assume she's a tomboy either. If she did all that and still looks pretty damn good, then you can bet she looks smokin' in her everyday clothing.
  • The group match: This girl is easy to spot because you'll swear you saw her before. You did, sort of. You'll see about 10 of her wearing the same costume. Girls dressed alike are going to be insecure (she wasn't brave enough to flaunt something on her own) and consequently very friend-dependent. Once you go for one of the girls in this group, you're pretty much sworn off to the rest of them (they will stick together). Choose wisely. And, once you choose, be ready, because you'll have to pass approval from her posse first. This girl could be a one-night stand or relationship material (she's unpredictable, it could go either way, but she'll need direction from her gal pals before you get very far). All this adds up to one thing -- she might be way more trouble than she's worth.
  • The couple match: She's taken. Move on. Feel free to throw a look of pity in the direction of the poor whipped guy she roped into donning whatever ridiculous costume matches hers.
  • The clever costume: If you find yourself chuckling when you see her costume, she's definitely in this category. Witty banter will abound with this one, but know there might be a degree of smugness and arrogance behind her clever retorts (and costume). Putting that much effort into a Halloween costume comes with a certain degree of obsessiveness. She has all the makings of a control freak. Proceed with caution.

Divide and conquer: Often, nutrition information for candy is based on more than one mini-sized bag. For example, one serving of peanut M&Ms contains 180 calories and 9 grams of fat, and one serving of Skittles contains 160 calories and 1.5 grams of fat. But, these numbers are based on TWO bags.

When you have treats, stick to one bag, even though the serving size may be two bags. Then, cut the nutrition information in half on the label to calculate how much you are consuming.

Craving minty? Treat yourself. Besides the fresh-breath advantage, mint candies are usually low-calorie and may chill you out: Studies have shown that just smelling peppermint reduces anxiety and fatigue. If you are craving minty candy, we recommend York Peppermint Patties. Aside from freshening your breath, they're lower in calories and fat than most candy.

Portion Control Issues? One trick to keep from going overboard on bite size goodies: Choose hard candies, which you can't possibly polish off as quickly as a bag of sour gummy bears. We recommend Jolly Ranchers or lollipops, which take much longer to eat than other types of candy so the calories last longer. For example, Tootsie-Pop miniatures have 50 calories -- but there are three lollipops in each serving.

Another option for satisfying a sweet tooth is Jelly Belly Sport Beans, which are fortified with electrolytes and carbohydrates for energy.

Madoff's Wife, Son Say Knew Nothing About Massive Ponzi Scheme

Bernie Madoff's wife and son said in a 60 Minutes interview last night -- their first to be broadcast -- that they knew nothing about Madoff's $65 billion Ponzi scheme, for which he's serving a 150-year prison sentence. Madoff's son, Andrew, said the family was shocked when he confessed to them in December 2008, and that his mother didn't even know what a Ponzi scheme was. Andrew explained, "She didn't even understand that. I think it was me who answered and said that, 'It means that it's all fake.' [His father] followed that up and said, 'Yes, I've been lying to all of you -- all of these years. I've been lying to everybody. I've been lying to myself.'" Andrew and his brother Mark, who worked at their father's firm, turned him in after that and Mark hanged himself last year on the second anniversary of his father's arrest. Andrew said, "What he did to me, to my brother, and to my family is unforgivable. What he did to thousands of other people, destroyed their lives -- I'll never understand it. And I'll never forgive him for it."Ruth Madoff, who said she never suspected anything, barely spoke with her sons for two years after the arrest because, according to Andrew, they couldn't understand her decision to stand by their father's side. However, she cut off contact with her husband after their son's suicide. The interview was done in conjunction with the release of a new book by Andrew and Ruth Madoff, called Truth and Consequences, that was arranged by Andrew's fiancee. The Madoffs say they're not profiting from the book because all proceeds are going to the fiancee.

Are You Paranoid About Your Kids Eating Trick-or-Treat Candy?

The urban legend about kids being given Halloween trick-or-treat candy tainted with poison or dangerous objects goes back decades, with actual cases being extremely rare. But the fear lives on, leading some medical facilities to offer candy x-raying on Halloween. Reuters reports that the Virginia medical clinic Patient First, for example, has been offering the service for 10 years, and will be doing it again for free at 37 of its centers in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. However, a representative told the news agency that, to their knowledge, they'd never found any tainted candy. The rumor debunking site breaks down the tainted candy fears and says that while they weren't able to track down any cases of candy poisoning, there have been some rare incidents of pins and razor blades being found in candy. However, almost all them involved kids or teens pranking their siblings, parents, friends or even the community based on the well-known tainted candy fears.

What's In Your McRib?

McRib devotees have been thrilled by McDonald's recent announcement that the hard-to-find specialty sandwich will be available at all stores across the country until November 14th. But before biting into one of the sandwiches of pork, onions and pickles slathered in barbecue sauce, you might want to know what's actually in it -- or maybe you don't. The Week magazine rounded up some reports on the McRib's contents, which found that while the meat is in fact made of pork, it's actually mostly pig innards like tripe, heart and stomach, which are cooked and blended with salt and water before being shaped into the patties. Additionally, not only the patty, but even the bun, are packed with chemicals, and the McRib comes in at a not very figure- or heart-friendly 500 calories with 26 grams of fat and 980 milligrams of sodium.

Julianne Hough's debut album was released in May 2008 followed by a Christmas collection later that year -- but Julianne hasn't released anything since then. However, Hough insists that her next record has been completed for some time. She told Country Music Is Love about her current fustration.

She said, "It's done. It's been a while since it's been done, and so I'm like, 'Well, I kind of want to rewrite some new things.' I would rather just release it online and let fans hear the music that I already have, that I can't publish - - but my label would get really mad."

  • Julianne's sophmore album is reportedly titled, Wildfire.
  • One song called, "I'll Be the DJ," was reportedly co-written with Carrie Underwood.
  • Meanwhile, Julianne told Glamour magazine that she used to be just one of the boys growing up. She said, "I was into climbing trees and playing sports as a kid, so I liked to be in the boys' club. But at the same time, I liked to wear makeup and dresses and hang out in my pink Barbie car."CHECK IT OUT
Darius Rucker fans know that Rucker is a huge football fan and what he does to make sure he gets to watch every single game certainly proves his fanhood. Darius told us that he has several TVs in his man cave and the televisions actually spread throughout the entire house. Talk about being ready for some football!

Darius said, "For me, my man cave is all about sports. I got six TVs in there. I've got a 65 [inch], and on top of that, I have two 48s and then under that, I've got two 36s, I think, and then I've got another 65 [inch] on another wall. Football Sunday and Saturday is pretty huge for me. I watch every game [laughs] I'm a TV guy. I love TV! I mean I've got a TV in pretty much every room. I mean, my wife's not a TV person. Dierks Bentley knows that family is one of the most important things in life -- so it's no wonder when holidays come around, his daughter is the one calling shots. Dierks told us about what his daughter has decided the entire family will go as for Halloween.

He said, "Evie's got, uh, yeah, she's already got her Halloween costume picked out. She's decided what everyone's gonna be this year in our family. So, she's gonna be The Little Mermaid, and then her younger sister's gonna be a crab. I think his name is Sebastian. I don't know The Little Mermaid that well, but she's decided Jordan's gonna be the crab. And she wants me to be Swiper, who's a character from a TV show called Dora, The Explorer. So, I don't think they make mid-30-year-old male Swiper costumes, so if any fans want to submit one, or if you see me in Joanne's fabric store putting together like a superhero kind of costume, that's because I love my daughter and that's who she wants me to be. She's in charge. I think she has Cassie going as Dora. So, maybe there's something secretive thing going on between Dora and Swiper that we don't know about."

  • Dierks has already scored a Number One hit with "Am I The Only One," the first single from his soon-to-be-released Home CD.
  • "Home" is the latest single off Dierks' sixth studio album, also called Home, which is scheduled for release in early 2012.
  • Dierks Bentley's new single "Home" has been hand-picked by the Arizona Centennial Commission to serve as its official song for the state's 100 year celebration. The Arizona native will also return to his home state next February to join the festivities as the Honorary Chairman of the Arizona Centennial Motorcycle Ride.
  • His last studio album, Up On The Ridge, was released in 2010 and was a bluegrass-inspired project.

Lonestar is excited to celebrate their anniversary and record a new album.

With the Lonestar 20 year reunion approaching, Dean, Michael, Keech and I got together and have decided we have some unfinished business to take care of. I miss those crazy nights running around on stage making music with my band of brothers. Eddie Murphy is on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Rolling Stone. The comedy legend has opened about a couple of things -- including returning to comedy and his feud with SNL. On the feud, he said, "They were sh*tty to me on Saturday Night Live a couple of times after I'd left the show. They said some sh*tty things. There was that David Spade sketch [when Spade showed a picture of Murphy around the time of Vampire In Brooklyn and said, 'Look, children, a falling star']. I made a stink about it, it became part of the folklore. What really irritated me about it at the time was that it was a career shot.. I felt sh*tty about it for years, but now, I don't have none of that."

On returning to stand-up comedy, he said, "If I ever get back onstage, I'm going to have a really great show for you all. An hour and a half of stand-up and about 40 minutes of my sh*tty band... But I haven't done it since I was 27, so why f*ck with it? But that's just weighing both sides. It comes up too much for me to not do it again. It's like, when it hits me, I'll do it, eventually."

  • The issue hits stands on October 28th.

  • Eddie Murphy's movie Tower Heist hits theatres on November 4th.
  • Eddie is tapped to host the 2012 Academy Awards.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is continuing to make enemies on Dancing With the Stars. After two days of sparring with the judges over their critiques, Maks took aim at fellow pro Derek Hough, who had been defending Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli to the media.

When asked about Derek's comments on Good Morning America, Maks replied, "Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show. When you say judges have been generous, with all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be very upset with the judges either."

He warned fans of the show that they shouldn't be holding out for an apology from him.

  • He explained, "I had a long conversation with my dad and I don't regret anything. That's why I think I'm misunderstood in this situation. Everyone is waiting for me to bow my head and plead for forgiveness. I have nothing to apologize for. I'm in the business because I love it. I can't really lose with remarks like this."

REPORT: RICHEST AMERICANS' INCOME SOARED IN PAST THREE DECADES: The richest one percent of Americans have seen their after-tax incomes soar over the past three decades, while the middle class and poorest have seen far lower advances, according to a new report from the Congressional Budget Office. After-tax income for the top one percent was up 275 percent, almost tripling, from 1979 to 2007, which for people in the middle of the economic scale it only increased by 40 percent, and the poorest saw just an 18 percent boost. CBO Director Doug Elmendorf said in a blog post, "The distribution of after-tax income in the United States was substantially more unequal in 2007 than in 1979." Among the report's other findings were that the top 20 percent earned 53 percent of the nation's after-tax income in 2007, compared to 43 percent in 1979, and the top one percent had a 17 percent share of all income, more than doubled from eight percent in 1979.

PROJECT TO EXAMINE COMPLETE DNA OF 100 PEOPLE OVER 100 YEARS OLD: A project announced Wednesday (October 26th) will examine the complete DNA of 100 people over 100 years old to look for genetic clues to how they lived so long. MAN THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN KILLED BY GACY FOUND ALIVE: A 53-year-old man whose brother and sister had feared he'd been murdered by serial killer John Wayne Gacy in the 1970s has been discovered alive and well and living in Florida for decades. Sheriff's detectives in Cook County, Illinois, had recently gotten exhumation orders for the eight of Gacy's 33 victims who were never identified and took DNA samples from the remains. They then reached out to the public, asking families with a missing relative who they think might have been a Gacy victim to submit to DNA testing to see if a match could be made. Tim Lovell and Theresa Hasselberg were planning to do that, having not seen their brother, Harold Wayne Lovell, since he left their family's home in Chicago in 1977. But before they could, they found a recent police booking photo online of their brother from Florida, where he'd been arrested on a marijuana charge. They contacted him, and all three were reunited earlier this week for the first time in 34 years. He says he left home when he did because he wasn't getting along with his mother and stepfather.

The first two weeks of the NBA season already have been canceled, and it's likely that more games will be scrapped.

COUPLE FILES FOR 'OCCUPY WALL STREET' TRADEMARK: Robert and Diane Maresca of New York state want to trademark the phrase "Occupy Wall Street." According to reports, the couple paid close to $1,000 on October 18th for the trademark filing. Robert said the idea is "something of a gamble," but that if they didn't buy it and use it someone else would. They plan to produce Occupy Wall Street bumper stickers, shirts and other goods. (UPI)

VIRGINIA DOG WALKER FOUND NOT GUILTY IN POOP SCOOP TRIAL: A 46-year-old woman who was charged with violating a pooper scooper law in Northern Virginia has been found not guilty. Kimberly Zakrzewski, who walked her friend's dog Baxter, was accused of not picking up after the animal by a neighbor. The neighbor told reporters, "She was letting the dog poop on purpose because she knew it annoyed us. This individual has no respect or regard for anyone else and views herself as above the law." Zakrzewski said she is innocent and claimed that she always carries plastic bags for waste. Baxter's owner testified that the dog poop photographed for evidence was too big to be Baxter's. The jury took just 20 minutes to decide on Zakrzewski's innocence. After she was cleared, she told reporters, "This case wasn't about whether I picked up after Baxter. It was about two women who wanted to harass me." (Washington Post)

GIANT LEGO MAN WASHES ASHORE? A giant, eight-foot-tall, 100-pound Lego man made of fiberglass has been found on the beach in Sarasota, Florida's Siesta Key. The front of the Lego man's "shirt" says: "NO REAL THAN YOU ARE" and the back reads "EGO LEONARD" and a number eight. Some locals thought the Lego man was part of a publicity stunt by the new Legoland theme park in nearby Winter Haven but a rep from the park issued a statement saying, "This activity is in no way sponsored or endorsed by The LEGO Group or Merlin Entertainments, who run LEGOLAND attractions. Hope you've given Mr. LEGO Imposter his one phone call and an attorney!" The Lego man is most likely the work of an artist who goes by the name Ego Leonard. His website reads, "My name is Ego Leonard and according to you I come from the virtual world. A world that for me represents happiness, solidarity, all green and blossoming, with no rules or limitations." (Huffington Post)

MISSING AIRPORT CAT FOUND: The cat that went missing about seven weeks ago at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City has been found in the airport's customs room. Airline workers lost Jack the cat on August 25th when his owner was about to board a flight from New York to California. The cat has been taken to a local veterinarian and is said to be doing fine. Just last week the airport held a "Jack the Cat Awareness Day," to encourage airport employees to look for the missing cat. (Daily Mail)

TATTOOED BARBIE CAUSES CONTROVERSY: A new Barbie doll with extensive tattoos and pink hair may be sold out but some are asking if the doll is appropriate for young girls. Some parents say the new "Tokidoki Tatoo" Barbie is teaching children to want tattoos at a young age while others say the doll is just reflecting the trends that Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry show off. The limited edition doll has a $50 price tag. Mattel has attempted to give the iconic doll tattoos in the past. In 2009 the company made Totally Stylin' Tattoos Barbie but had to pull them from shelves when parents complained and ten years prior Butterfly Art Barbie -- also sporting tattoos -- received similar complaints. 24% OF PEOPLE KEEP FINANCIAL PROBLEMS SECRET FROM PARTNERS: The National Foundation for Credit Counseling's new online poll found that 24% of the poll respondents said they "would not tell their spouse if they were experiencing financial difficulties." Respondents are keeping mum over money for three reasons: 9% said they don't want to worry their partner, 7% said they don't want to damage their relationship, and 8% said, "with a certain circular logic," their spouse had no idea about their debt in the first place. WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT FOR THE HOLIDAYS? START NOW: Six weeks is the perfect timeframe to realistically lose about 14 pounds. Anyone wanting to drop a dress size in time for the holidays better get going because October 25th was the perfect day to start dieting. With six weeks to go before the grueling round of office parties typically kick off, nutritionists insist starting a diet now leaves enough time to shed the pounds sensibly and with a realistic chance of slimming, toning-up or dropping some weight. New research commissioned by Atkins reveals that more than half (53.7%) of women go on a diet before Christmas, rising to almost two thirds (63%) of those aged between 25 and 34. (Daily Mail)

ONLY 1 IN 10 GUYS HAVE A FAVORITE SIDE OF THE BED: According to this research, only one in 10 guys cares which side he sleeps on. Inherently, men are conditioned to be the protectors in the relationship, and in being geared to this way of thinking, they're more likely to let women have their way when it comes to choosing sides, according to psychologist Donna Dawson. Dawson, who conducted the research, also points out that the side a woman chooses has a lot to do with her instincts, and that women choose different sides for a variety of reasons. Those who choose the side closest to the door may do so as for easy escape, or to be able to easily tend to a situation outside of the room, i.e. a crying baby. Women who opt for the inside spot, away from the door, may have a need to be as far away from danger as possible. (

WOMEN WHO KEEP MAIDEN NAMES GET TAKEN MORE SERIOUSLY: According to a recent Dutch study, women who keep their maiden name after they get married are more likely to make more money because they are considered to be more job-focused and professional. Professors at the University of Tilburg looked at the data of 2,400 married women. Three-quarters had taken their husband's name, 7% had hyphenated last names and the rest kept their maiden names. According to their findings, women who kept their names had higher average education levels, fewer children they worked more and had higher salaries. (

No. 1: Ice Queen: Halley Bock, CEO of leadership and development training company Fierce, notes that the ruthless "ice queen" stereotype is rampant. Cultural depictions, like frigid magazine editor Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada (and her real-world counterpart Anna Wintour of Vogue) and back-stabbing boss Patty Hewes on Damages, paint successful women as unsympathetic power-mongers. It is, of course, a Catch-22. "A woman who shows emotion in the workplace is often cast as too fragile or unstable to lead," Bock said. "A woman who shows no emotion and keeps it hyper-professional is icy and unfeminine. For many women, it can be a no-win situation."

No. 2: Single and Lonely: Harvard lecturer Olivia Fox Cabane notes that the strong perception that powerful women are intimidating to men and will need to sacrifice their personal lives may stop women from going after power. Even those women who aren't interested in marrying, face harsh judgments. Men get to be "bachelors" while women are reduced to "spinsters" and "old-maids." In fact, when Janet Napolitano was nominated Secretary of Homeland Security, critics said her being single would allow her to "spend more time on the job."

No. 3: Tough: The first female Executive Editor of The New York Times, Jill Abramson is anything but stereotypical. She had a hard-charging career as an investigative reporter at The Wall Street Journal and edited her way to the top of the Times masthead. She's also a true-blood New Yorker and is writing a book about puppies. Despite her complexities, she must contend with being called "tough" and "brusque," making the "she's-tough stereotype" her least favorite. Said Abramson: "As an investigative reporter, I had tough standards and a formidable way of framing and reporting stories, but I don't think of myself as a tough person."

No. 4: Weak: Costa Rica President Laura Chinchilla, the country's first female leader, told me that successful women face typecasting largely because society is still adjusting to women's recent decision-making power. Chinchilla believes the most pervasive stereotype is that women are "weak," a perception that may stem from women's greater desire to build a consensus. "We understand success not as the result of just one person but as the result of a team," she said. "[It's a] different way of dealing with power [that] is misunderstood as a kind of weakness."

No. 5: Masculine: The notion that powerful women must be, lead and look like a man really aggravates Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund. In a video interview with FORBES she said -- pumping her fist -- she hates the idea that "you have to look like a businessman." She admitted she sometimes feels the pressure to look the "right" way, but tries to resist not being "overly businesslike."
