KFLAG COUNTRY MUSIC UPDATE
won't return as next year's host of the ACM Awards
. Country Weekly
reports that Reba's decade-plus stint as the show's host is done for
the meantime. Instead, Reba's co-host of the last two years -- Blake Shelton
-- will take over.
Reba said, "(I've) passed the torch to Blake. I'm a huge Blake Shelton fan."
Reba is instead focusing on her new ABC series called Malibu Country
. The show is set to begin airing on Fridays in November.
The Academy of Country Music's CEO, Bob Romeo
, issued a statement saying, "Reba has hosted the ACM Awards
a record 14 times since 1986, and we fully understand and support her
decision to focus her energies on her new television project. We've
known about this for a while and have something very special planned
with Blake returning -- he's got something big up his sleeve! -- that
we'll be announcing soon. Stay tuned!"
No air date for the 2013 ACM Awards
has been announced, but the show will continue to air live from Las Vegas for the next two years.
The Las Vegas Sun
reports that the 50th anniversary of the ACM Awards
will be held in Dallas, Texas in 2015.
has managed to release 10 successful albums, chart dozens of hits and
tour around the country on a yearly basis and yet he has managed to fly
somewhat under the radar. Aside from his music, the singer stays pretty
quiet, particularly after the 2004 death of his wife. Gary tells us: "I'm
really private, so when I'm home I'm home. I don't like people to know
my business. I believe that you can be over-exposed. I believe the
people that you see all the time, they're not gonna be around very long
cause you get sick of 'em. When my wife passed, I stopped doing
interviews mostly because . . . and I stopped doing meet-and-greets too,
and it was mostly because I sort of became like the suicide ambassador
where everybody wanted to tell me their story, and I realize that's like
how people share with you and that's their way of bonding with me and
getting close, but before shows I was hearing like 10 or 12 stories like
that and I was like, 'I can't do this everyday,' so I ended up pulling
Gary has never stopped making music, however. His last album, Get Off On The Pain
, was released in 2010, but fans will have a new CD in their hands early next year.
The upcoming album, called Set You Free

might be a household name but he still manages to go unrecognized out
in public. Most celebrities put on accessories like hats and glasses to
stay incognito, but in Eric's case, he tells us it's what he takes off
that allows him to live a normal life. "We stay pretty insulated. If
I take the shades and the hat off I can go to my own show. I could
probably sit there and hang out in the crowd and nobody would know,
which I love! It's just . . . We didn't intend for that to happen but
I'm really glad that it happened."
Another way Eric keeps himself in check is by having his wife and son with him at all times. "I
keep my family with me. I mean, we go on the road together. It's hard
at times, when you've got a little baby. We've got a dog that likes to
bark, and it can be interesting being up early in the morning, having a
show that night, coming back up on the bus and Boone's still awake --
stuff like that, but I would rather do that than come back to an empty
bus after a great show and know that I'm missing out on whatever's
happening at home. I just know that it would affect me musically is the
reason we made the decision. Over time that would erode at what I was
gonna be able to do to do my job to have that conflict, and sometimes
it's hard but I enjoy having them out there with me. We just roll up and
down the road, so we try to keep it as normal as what our normal is. Most people would melt down if they saw what our day-to-day was but for us it's normal."
Eric and family are headed to Sioux City, Iowa for a show there tonight (Friday, September 28th). The Blood, Sweat and Beers
tour also stops in Kansas City tomorrow night (Saturday, September 29th).
Eric is climbing the charts with "Creepin'."

A policeman on the scene told reporters, "It's

then living in this type of neighborhood, you don't expect anything to

another guy the whole time!'"
- Shepherd also claims that
Emily gave Jef half the money she made from The Bachelorette to stay

AMANDA BYNES PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO HIT AND RUN

the actress wasn't present in court for the 10-minute hearing. RadarOnline.com reported that Amanda's attorney entered the plea on her behalf, and the 26-year-old was ordered to turn herself into cops.
judge said that Bynes, who has been staying in New York City, must
formally turn herself into to be booked by October 21st so that she can
be fingerprinted and have her mug shot taken.
Bynes is also
facing a DUI charge and two charges of driving on a suspended license.
Her pretrial hearing is scheduled to take place on October 19.
As for why Amanda fled to New York? A friend recently told Radar,
"Amanda isn't required to be in court so she has gone to New York City
and says she plans on making it a permanent move. Amanda is adamant that
she is retired from acting and wants to begin a new life in New York as
a fashion designer. She thinks she can live a more normal life on the
East Coast and won't be hounded by the paps."
- EOnline.com reported that Amanda was shopping at the time of the hearing.
DINA LOHAN OFFERS ADVICE TO PARENTS OF AMANDA BYNES
Even though she has long been criticized for her parenting methods, Dina Lohan
feels she is in a position to offer advice to the parents of Amanda Bynes
Although Bynes and Lohan have frequently been compared lately -- given
their difficult transitions from child to adult star and driving and
legal woes -- Dina refused to acknowledge the similarities.
She explained to Entertainment Tonight,
"You know, I'm a mother, and I feel that that's for her mother to speak
about, and not me, because people have spoken for my child and myself. I
really feel that's for her parents to discuss and Amanda herself."
when asked what advice she'd offer Rick and Lynn Bynes about how to
deal with Amanda, Dina responded, "Just be around. It's hard when your
daughter's not, you know, over 18, and you want to let them go and they
want to feel like they're in control of themselves. So it's a very
strategic place for a parent to be, but she'll be ok."

NETANYAHU ARGUES FOR ACTION AGAINST IRAN IN U.N. SPEECH: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
spoke before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday (September
27th), making his most detailed argument yet for international action
to stop Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu contended that the world has
until next summer at the latest to stop Iran from building a nuclear
bomb. Holding up a drawing of a cartoon-like bomb, he showed the
progress he says Iran has already made in completing uranium enrichment,
and then used a red marker to draw a line across what the he said was
completion of the second stage and 90 percent of the way to uranium
enrichment needed to make a nuclear bomb. He said that was a threshold
Israel cannot tolerate. Netanyahu declared, "To understand what the
world would be like with a nuclear-armed Iran, just imagine the world
with a nuclear-armed al-Qaida." Iran insists its nuclear program is for
peaceful purposes, but the U.S., Israel, and other Western nations don't
CALIFORNIA MAN BEHIND ANTI-ISLAM FILM JAILED FOR VIOLATING PROBATION:
The California man behind the crude anti-Islamic video that sparked
violent demonstrations in the Muslim world was arrested on Thursday
(September 27th) for violating his probation from a 2010 check fraud
conviction. In yet another twist in the case, the man who'd been using
the name Nakoula Basseley Nakoula told the judge his real name is
Mark Basseley Youseff. He said he'd been using that name since 2002,
even though he went by Nakoula in the fraud case. Citing a lengthy
pattern of deception and the potential to flee, the judge ordered
Nakoula jailed until a hearing can be held to determine if he broke the
terms of his probation. Prosecutors noted Nakoula had eight probation
violations, including lying to his probation officers and using aliases.
After his 2010 conviction, Nakoula was sentenced to 21 months in prison
and was barred from using computers or the Internet for five years
without approval from his probation officer, though prosecutors said
none of the violations involved the Internet. He also wasn't supposed to
use any name other than his true legal name. However, a man believed to
be Nakoula took credit for the anti-Islam video while using the name
"Sam Bacile," and he's now claiming a new name.

Beach County, Florida. The Republican Party of Florida had used
Strategic Allied Consulting to help register and turnout voters in the
key swing state, and had paid the Virginia-based group more than $1.3
million. The Republican National Committee had also used Strategic
Allied Consulting for work in Nevada, North Carolina, Colorado and

NASA ROVER FINDS EVIDENCE WATER ONCE FLOWED ON MARS:
NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has found evidence that water once flowed
on the Red Planet, sending back pictures of bedrock that suggest a
fast-moving stream was once there. Although there have been previous
signs that water once existed on Mars, the new images, which show
pebbles that were rounded off, likely by water, are the most convincing
evidence yet. NASA intentionally landed Curiosity inside Gale Crater
near the Martian equator early last month because photos from space
suggested there might once have been water in that area.

WORLD'S TALLEST FERRIS WHEEL TO BE BUILT ON NEW YORK'S STATEN ISLAND:

night's game that Baltimore's Ravens won over the Cleveland Browns
23-16. Just hours after the NFL's lockout of the refs ended at midnight,
the officiating crew got a round of applause as they walked on the
field, and two of them tipped their caps to acknowledge the support.
Then, before the pregame coin flip, referee Gene Steratore greeted the
players by saying, "Good evening, men, it's good to be back," and many
in the crowd stood and cheered. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco went 28 for 46 for 356 yards in the game, threw one touchdown and ran for another. Browns QB Brandon Weeden went 25 for 52 for 320 yards as the Browns fell to 0-4.

WOMAN INSISTED ON BATH BEFORE ARREST: A 45-year-old woman in
Long Pond, Pennsylvania -- who was about to be arrested in her home --
insisted to police that she needed to take a bath before being taken in.
Authorities went to Marisol Delarosa's home to serve her an arrest
warrant which alleged she received stolen property. Police said Delarosa
insisted she needed to take a bath before they could arrest her. When
officers told her no, Delarosa reportedly tried to close the door. In
the end, she was hit with a charge of resisting arrest and taken to
Monroe County Correctional on $10,000 bail. (Scranton-Times Tribune)
GERMAN CAB DRIVER IS SELF-PROFESSED 'LADY WHISPERER':
A cab driver in Germany who calls himself a "lady whisperer" is
exhibiting photographs of more than 40 of his female passengers flashing
him their breasts. The 67-year-old cabby, Hans-Jurgen Watzlawek, said
he used his lady-whispering skills to convince passengers to flash him
for the camera. The project started when a pregnant female passenger
showed him her breasts to explain how they had been growing during her
pregnancy. When she agreed to let Watzlawek photograph her, the project
began. Critics believe the women in the photos were all drunk but the
gallery owner said those claims are false. (Huffington Post)

Zoff said that as part of the sale he'll sell his basic wooden coffin
for the marked down price. His other coffins range from $295 to $780.
Zoff is also selling some the his earlier, less perfect creations as
holiday decorations. He said, "It's an undeniable segment of the
business, away from the more traditional use. The Halloween sale thing,
I've been getting a call or two a day." Zoff used to be a real estate
broker who built wooden coffins on the side but when his coffin business
took off, he quit his full-time job and turned his attentions to the

MAN ARRESTED FOR WASHING GIRLFRIEND'S MOUTH OUT WITH SOAP:
A man who was unhappy about his girlfriend swearing in front of their
children literally tried washing her mouth out with soap. On Tuesday
night (September 25th) John Vincent Caruso and Stephanie Madwell got
into an argument when Stephanie started swearing. John got angry and
threatened to wash her mouth out with soap if she didn't stop cursing.
After his third warning, John went to the kitchen and got the liquid
dish soap and squirted it into his girlfriend's mouth. Stephanie called
the police and when they arrived at the home, they asked John about the
soap. John not only admitted it but reportedly told police he often
washed his own mouth out with soap out of respect for his parents.
Police arrested John on a domestic battery charge. (The Smoking Gun)

PEOPLE CHOOSING COLLEGES BASED ON SOCIAL MEDIA:
A recent survey of 7,000 high school students by Zinch, an online
college resource, found that university social media accounts are
influential to students who are deciding between colleges and
universities. Admissions counselors are actively recruiting students on
the popular social networks. The survey reveals schools that are smart
with social media -- engaging students in video chats, Facebook contests
and Twitter conversations -- are most influential online. About
two-thirds of survey participants said they actively checked out
prospective colleges on popular social networks including Facebook,

HIGH POWERED PEOPLE ARE LESS STRESSED:
Conventional wisdom says government and corporate leaders have high
levels of stress, but U.S. researchers say more authority means less
stress. In other words, the feeling of being in charge of one's own life
more than makes up for the greater amount of responsibility that
accompanies higher rungs on the leadership ladder, the researchers said.
The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy
of Sciences, also found the connection between power and tranquility
was dependent on the total number of subordinates a leader had and on
the degree of authority or autonomy a job conferred. (UPI)

- Ginger (red hair):
The use of ginger in the US to describe red hair took off with

the US, she says - Americans think of warm, comforting things like

- Go missing (disappear): This came to the fore in
the US when intern Chandra Levy "disappeared", says Ben Yagoda. Go
missing was widely used, he says, because it felt more nuanced. In his

equivalent in American English.
- Chat up (hit on): The
use of chat up to refer to flirtatious conversation really began to take
off in the 1990s, says Kory Stamper. Often you can't pinpoint why a

Britishism that has "snuck in on cat's feet".

Aurora Movie Theater Seeking Dismissal of Massacre Lawsuits
The Aurora, Colorado, movie theater that was the site of a mass
shooting in July in which 12 people were killed and 58 others injured is
seeking the dismissal of lawsuits brought by three of the massacre
survivors who were hurt, Reuters reported Thursday (September 27th),
citing court papers. In their lawsuits filed last week, the three
victims said the theater had lax security. But the dismissal motion
filed on behalf of Cinemark USA said, "It would be patently unfair, and
legally unsound, to impose on Cinemark, a private business in the
entertainment industry, the duty and burden to have foreseen and
prevented the criminal equivalent of a meteor falling from the sky." The
victims argued there should have been more security because of previous
crimes in or near the theater, including assaults, robberies and at
least one gang shooting. Cinemark disputed that there was a gang
shooting, but said that even if there had been, quote, "such an event
would be insufficient to make a madman's mass murder foreseeable."

GOP Senate Candidate Akin Says Dem Sen. McCaskill Not Ladylike, Wildcat
Missouri's Republican Senate nominee Todd Akin
who found himself in hot water last month when he said that victims of
what he called "legitimate rape" won't get pregnant because, quote, "the
female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," is raising
some eyebrows again with his latest remarks. Speaking yesterday
(September 27th) about his recent debate with Senator Claire McCaskill
his Democratic opponent, Akin contrasted McCaskill's performance with
her demeanor during her 2006 debates against then-Senator Jim Talent
saying that then, "She had a confidence, and was very much more sort of
ladylike and all." Then, while speaking to supporters later, the Los Angeles Times
reported that Akin said of McCaskill's debate performance, "The first
two minutes, wow, it's like somebody let a wildcat out of the cage. She
was just furious and attacking in every different direction, which was a
little bit of a surprise to us."

JWoww told In Touch
magazine that the proposal occurred during a skydiving session. She

. ' and then I turned to him and freaked out. The whole time I'm
screaming, 'What are you doing What's going on? He's like, 'I want to
spend the rest of my life with you! Will you allow me to?' "
The two started dating during the third season of Jersey Shore and Mathews has frequently appeared on the show since then.

ever expected. Roger's not an average-looking guy, he's huge: his
personality, his size [6'4"]. So I always said, 'I want my ring like you
-- big! The bigger the better!' "
JENNIFER GARNER SAYS BEN AFFLECK HAS 'WONDER SPERM'
is through with having kids -- but her husband Ben Affleck may throw a wrench into her plans.
Garner told Ellen DeGeneres
that three kids is enough for her: "(Ellen)
Are you gonna keep having kids, are you gonna have more? (Jennifer) No,
I'm definitely, I plan to be done. But my husband is kind of a wonder
sperm kind of guy."
The couple's youngest child -- son Sam -- is seven months old. They have two daughters who are three and six.
also admitted that she gets her kids (and pets) names confused with
each other -- and revealed she's even mixed them up with the Jolie-Pitts
and called her daughters "Shiloh."
J.K. ROWLING CONSIDERS RETURNING TO HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE
J.K. Rowling says that there still might be more to come out of the Harry Potter
universe. The famed author told the BBC that she'd consider revisiting
the universe she created -- and then ended after seven books.
explained, "It was murder saying goodbye, but where Harry's story is
concerned, I'm done. Now, if I had a fabulous idea that came out of that
world, because I loved writing it, I would do it."
added, "I don't want to go mechanically back into that world and pick
up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, 'Here we go,
we can sell this.' It would make a mockery of what those books were to
- Rowling noted that she's considered reworking
several of the existing books as well: "I had to write on the run, and
there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think,
'Oh God, maybe I'll go back and do a director's cut,' I don't know."
TOM CRUISE IS NOT LEAVING SCIENTOLOGY
A rep for Tom Cruise has denied a report claiming that he is leaving Scientology. Star
magazine reported that after "three failed marriages, a slumping career
and the fear of losing Suri, Tom is desperate for a new life."
source told the magazine that Tom acknowledged that Scientology was to
blame for the downfall of his relationships. The insider claimed, "Tom
hasn't admitted that he's definitely leaving Scientology for good. But
he's distanced himself from those in the church and has been hanging out
with good friends who aren't part of the religion."
However his rep told GossipCop.com that the story is "simply not true."
Meanwhile, a more credible source -- People magazine -- says that Tom misses daughter Suri in the wake of his divorce from Katie Holmes.
Because Cruise has been filming a movie in London, and Suri's new
school doesn't allow her the same flexibility that home schooling did,
Tom hasn't seen his daughter in nearly two months.

ANTI-AUSTERITY PROTESTS IN GREECE, SPAIN:
Demonstrators clashed with police in the capitals of Greece and Spain
in the past two days as protests have erupted over new austerity
measures. Yesterday (September 26th), nearly 70,000 people marched to
the Greek parliament in Athens on the day of a general strike against
further cuts demanded by foreign lenders. Later, police fired tear gas
at rioters who were throwing Molotov cocktails. One day earlier, in
Madrid, there were also violent protests as Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy moves closer to asking Europe for a bailout, which will require tougher austerity measures.
AHMADINEJAD AT U.N. CALLS FOR NEW WORLD ORDER, CONDEMNS 'UNCIVILIZED ZIONISTS': In his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday (September 26th), Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
called for a new world order not dominated by Western powers, quote,
"who have entrusted themselves to the devil." While not repeating the
comment he made to journalists two days earlier that Israel has no roots
in the Middle East and would be, quote, "eliminated," he also said his
country was under constant threat of military action from what he called
"uncivilized Zionists." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
who will speak at the U.N. today, has promised a strong response to
Ahmadinejad's verbal attacks. As in recent years, the delegations from
the U.S., Canada and Israel were intentionally absent from the U.N.
auditorium when Ahmadinejad spoke. At a news conference later in the
day, Ahmadinejad said Iran is, quote, "capable of avoiding and
neutralizing" efforts to sabotage its nuclear facilities, and repeated
that his country is open to talks with the U.S., saying, "We are ready
for a dialogue and a resolution of problems. . . . We have never had any
problems with the people of the United States."
U.S. ARMY GENERAL FACES CHARGES INCLUDING FORCED SEX, ADULTERY:
An Army brigadier general who served five combat tours in Iraq and
Afghanistan is facing possible court martial on charges including
forcible sodomy, multiple counts of adultery and having inappropriate
relationships with several female subordinates, it was announced
yesterday (September 26th). Other charges against Brigadier General
Jeffrey A. Sinclair, who was sent home in May because of the
allegations, include violating an order, possessing pornography and
alcohol while deployed, and misusing a government travel charge card and
filing fraudulent claims. Sinclair, a 27-year Army veteran, has not
been placed under arrest. An Article 32 investigation will be held next,
including a hearing to determine if the case should go to trial in what
would be a rare court martial for an Army general.
BARNES & NOBLE DEBUTS FIRST HI-DEF TABLETS:
Barnes & Noble on Wednesday (September 26th) unveiled its first
high-definition tablets, a 7-inch Nook HD tablet for $199 and a 9-inch
Nook HD+ tablet for $269 and will compete with Apple's iPad. Barnes
& Noble also added features that allow each member in a family to
share a Nook tablet, becoming the first tablet to let each user create a
home page and customize preferences. There are also parental controls
that can prevent kids from accessing adult content or shopping online.
The company is also introducing a new video-streaming and download
service for the Nook.
UNIV. OF CALIFORNIA TO PAY $1 MILLION TO PEPPER-SPRAYED STUDENTS:
Under a settlement, the University of California regents will pay some
$1 million to 21 UC Davis current and former students who were
pepper-sprayed during a peaceful campus protest last November against
rising tuition costs. A video showing an officer casually walking up to
the seated students and spraying them directly in their faces at close
range during an Occupy rally went viral and led to an investigation by
the university. Each student who filed suit will get $30,000 and a
handwritten apology from UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi. CNN reported
that, as of this summer, the campus police officer who pepper-sprayed
the students, Lieutenant John Pike, was no longer working at the
university. However, the university wouldn't say whether he quit or was
fired, citing privacy guidelines.
'HARRY POTTER' AUTHOR J.K. ROWLING'S FIRST ADULT NOVEL OUT TODAY: Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is stepping out into a new arena with the debut today (September 27th) of her first adult novel, The Casual Vacancy.
The book tells the story of class prejudices and tensions between the
well-off and the poor that come to the fore in a small English town,
called Pagford, after the unexpected death of a member of the parish
council. Rowling, who was a single mother living on government benefits
when she first started writing the Harry Potter stories, told The Guardian,
"The poor are discussed as this homogeneous mash, like porridge. The
idea that they might be individuals, and be where they are for very
different, diverse reasons, again seems to escape some people."
JIMMY HOFFA TIP LEADS POLICE TO SUBURBAN DETROIT DRIVEWAY:
- Rowling has revealed that her next book is most likely to be a novel for children, which is almost complete.
A new tip on the possible fate of Jimmy Hoffa
has led investigators to a suburban Detroit home, where they will take
soil samples from the ground beneath the driveway. Roseville Police
Chief James Berlin said his department had gotten a tip from a man who
saw a body buried there some 35 years ago, and believes it may have been
the missing Teamsters leader. But Berlin said, "We are not claiming
it's Jimmy Hoffa, the timeline doesn't add up. We're investigating a
body that may be at the location." Hoffa was last seen on July 30, 1975,
outside a suburban Detroit restaurant where he was supposed to meet
with a New Jersey Teamsters boss and a Detroit Mafia captain. Tips over
the decades have led to searches in several locations without success.
NFL REACHES TENTATIVE DEAL WITH REFEREES:
Looks like the hugely controversial ending to Monday night's football
game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers really was
the tipping point. The NFL and the referees' union announced at midnight
Thursday (September 27th) that a tentative deal had been reached to end
the lockout that began in June and led to replacement refs officiating
games in the first three weeks of the regular season to growing outrage
from players, coaches and fans. The new deal, reached after two days of
marathon negotiations, means the regular refs will be back on the field
starting with tonight's game between the Cleveland Browns and the
Baltimore Ravens. The tentative eight-year deal is the longest involving
on-field officials in NFL history and was reached with the help of two
ORIOLES TIE TEAM RECORD WITH SEVEN HOMERS IN WIN OVER BLUE JAYS:
- Meanwhile, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick
was fined $50,000 for trying to grab an official's arm Sunday to ask
for an explanation of a call after his team lost to Baltimore, and
Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was fined $25,000 for abuse of officials in his team's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday.
The Baltimore Orioles tied a team record last night (September 26th) by
hitting seven home runs in their 12-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The victory kept Baltimore within 1 1/2 games of the American League
East-leading New York Yankees. Chris Davis
and Manny Machado
each hit two home runs, and Nate McLouth
, Jim Thome
and Mark Reynolds
also went long. Baltimore has hit seven home runs three times, most recently on August 26, 1985.

'BAGEL HEAD' TREND ON THE RISE IN JAPAN:
A form of temporary body art called a "Bagel Head" is becoming popular
in Japan. To get the look, saline is injected into the forehead until it
swells into a circle. Then someone has to press it in the center to
create the "hole" of the bagel. The process takes two hours but lasts up
to 24 hours until the body absorbs the saline. (The Sun)

MAN HELD LOST IPHONE FOR RANSOM:
Police in Pennsylvania said a 20-year-old man who found an iPhone 3GS
in a movie theater refused to return it until the owner -- a girl named
Kaitlyn and her mom, Donna -- paid him a ransom. When Kaitlyn told her
mom she lost the phone, Donna called it and a man named Erick picked up.
Police said the man -- whose full name is Erick Rosales Rojo -- would
only return the phone if Barr met him and paid him $40. Barr decided to
call police instead. An officer posing as Kaitlyn's father informed Rojo
there was no reward and that he was in possession of a stolen phone
when Rojo replied, "No, I would like some cash for it." When Rojo showed
up to collect, police arrested him for attempting to profit off the
theft of lost or mislaid property. (The Smoking Gun)
WOMAN HOLDS UP STORE BY PRETENDING FINGER WAS A GUN:
A woman in Pennsylvania was arrested after she robbed a store using the
old finger-in-the-jacket-looks-like-a-gun move. Laura L. Pastor
admitted to the robbery of a Dollar General in Walnutport on Tuesday
(September 25th) where she got away with a bottle of pain reliever and
$148. During the robbery 51-year-old Pastor told the cashier, with her
finger pointing out from inside of her jacket, "This is a stick up...
Give me all the money or someone is going to get hurt." Police viewed
surveillance footage and were able to find the jacket and hat that
Pastor wore during the crime in the garbage outside of Pastor's house.
She was charged with robbery and taken to the Northampton County Prison
on $25,000 bail. (FARK)
HOW TO DRAW ATTENTION TO A YARD SALE:
A man in La Mesa, California looking to attract shoppers to his yard

$10.50." The sign also had a drawing of a woman in a bikini. He told
reporters his friend made the sign, hoping it would get people to stop
and check out the sale. (ABC)

WHY ARE MEN OBSESSED WITH BOOBS?
In their new book, The Chemistry Between Us: Love, Sex, and the Science
of Attraction, Larry Young and Brian Alexander tackle the question: why
are men obsessed with breasts? They believe heterosexual men are so
fascinated by women's breasts because of a hormone released during
nursing which helps to forge the powerful bond between mother and baby
-- and also creates an evolutionary drive for a strong nurturing bond
between lovers. They noted that, 'biologically speaking,' the human male
breast obsession is 'pretty weird because men are the only male mammals
fascinated by breasts in a sexual context.' But -- humans are a rare
mammal that has sex face-to-face. (Daily Mail)

84% SAY ROAD TRIPS STRENGTHENED RELATIONSHIP: A
new survey from YourTango and Ford reveals road trips are good for
relationships. 91 percent of couples have taken road trips together, and
84 percent agree the experience has strengthened their relationship.
However, coupled driving time is not all sunshine. For instance, plenty
of couples (63 percent) have a "back-seat driver" on board who "helps"
the real driver negotiate the road, offering him or her the following
- 32 percent tell the driver they're driving too fast
- 27 percent tell them they're going the wrong way
- 22 percent tell them they're not paying enough attention to their surroundings/traffic
- 15 percent chide them for driving too slowly
- 9 percent tell them they're not using signals properly/sufficiently
- 7 percent chide them for honking/usual foul language/gestures towards other drivers
EAT 9 MEALS A DAY?!
First we were told to eat three meals a day -- then the number was
upped to six to avoid hunger and over-eating -- and now we are being
advised to consume 9 times in a 24-hour period. Eating more frequently
during the day means there are no sudden spikes of fatty acids, enabling
the body to deal with the intake more effectively. This may help lower
blood pressure and cholesterol, and even encourage weight loss. While
they all had the same calorie intake and food, half the participants ate
fewer than six times a day, while the remainder ate more than six
times. Results show the first group had a significantly higher systolic
blood pressure, the pressure that blood exerts on vessels while the
heart is beating, compared with the more frequent eaters -- and were
also significantly heavier. (Daily Mail)
